چکیده
The demand for broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) is rapidly growing in Japan, and a new production system to increase yield required. During processing, florets are separated from the head, floret may be increased by enlargement of heads beyond existing retail standards. Therefore, we conducted four cultivation tests over two years investigated yields 10 cultivars during spring autumn cropping. We sought identify high-yielding when enlarged via either an extension period or sparse planting. In control plots, were harvested at approximately 12 cm diameter, following normal extended was limits marketable quality. plant density these plots 3,125 plants per a. half other 1,563 a, as plots. 560–958 kg/10 905–2,504 Head diameter 15–21 cm. head 15–25 cm, fresh weight tended increase, but only 657–1,870 due number plants. Across seasons years, ‘Grandome’ cultivar had consistently high yields, suggesting that it suitable harvesting. Compared ‘Pixel’ cultivar, photoassimilates more concentrated main shoot fewer side shoots. Moreover, there several immature floral shoots which explain large size. harvest index also with size, so enabled efficient compared conventional cropping methods.

Extending the Planting Period of Dormant and Growing Norway Spruce Container Seedlings to Early Summer
In order to make mechanized planting economically viable, the present spring planting period for Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) seedlings in Scandinavia needs to be extended. To evaluate the possibilities to extend the planting period, six field experiments were established in four years during which frozen-stored, dormant seedlings and actively growing seedlings targeted for spring pl...
متن کامل‘Two‐floret spikelet’ as a novel resource has the potential to increase rice yield
Yield in rice (Oryza sativa) is determined by three major components: panicle number per plant, grain weight and grain/ spikelet number per panicle (Zhou et al., 2015). Grain number per panicle is one of the main targets and mainly results from the number of spikelets. Traditionally, rice breeders have focused on the improvement of spikelet number per panicle and rarely focused on the number of...
متن کاملChromosome Doubling of Microspore-Derived Plants from Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) and Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica L.)
Chromosome doubling of microspore-derived plants is an important factor in the practical application of microspore culture technology because breeding programs require a large number of genetically stable, homozygous doubled haploid plants with a high level of fertility. In the present paper, 29 populations of microspore-derived plantlets from cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) and brocc...
متن کاملShoot-root traits of broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica L.) as influenced by different irrigation schedules
Frequency of irrigation to the crops is the key factor for proper growth and economic yield. Therefore, in the current study growth of broccoli plants was investigated under different irrigation levels in pot culture condition. Five levels of irrigation schedules were applied including I0 [Non-irrigation control], I1 [Irrigation up to 15 days after transplanting (DAT)], I2 [Irrigation up to 30 ...
متن کاملSelenium-Induced Toxicity Is Counteracted by Sulfur in Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica)
Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient for humans. Increasing Se content in food crops offers an effective approach to enhance the consumption of Se in human diets. A thoroughly understanding of the effects of Se on plant growth is important for Se biofortification in food crops. Given that Se is an analog of sulfur (S) and can be toxic to plants, its effect on plant growth is expected to ...
